Earlier this year we wrote about the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (H.R. 6395)…
Understanding Resources: A New Resource and Benefits Portal for Missouri Veterans
The best part of being an estate planning attorney is helping folks in our community gain financial security and peace of mind. After all, healthy, secure communities are the backbone of well-being at all levels, and it is a real blessing to be able to play a part in their construction. At The Law Firm of Christopher W. Dumm, we achieve this in two principal ways: by helping individuals institute a plan that protects their assets and by working to ensure folks are aware of and able to access public benefits that assist in meeting basic needs. Accordingly, we would be remiss not to announce a new online tool from the Missouri Veterans Commission (MVC) that allows veterans and service members to find resources and potential benefits.
Launched in collaboration with the Department of Economic Development (DED) Office of the Missouri Military Advocate, the Missouri Benefits and Resource Portal is a powerful mechanism by which members of the military and their families can learn about available mental health, transportation, education, and financial assistance. Included programs offer help with careers and businesses, homelessness, and health care. MVC Executive Director Paul Kirchhoff has stated that this initiative will continue to expand through ongoing collaboration with the DED.
Missouri is a leader among US states in terms of support provided for service members, military families, and veterans; however, these most-valued members of our community are not always aware of the many benefits and resources available. This new initiative is a big step in the right direction, but it is not a comprehensive solution. An experienced estate planning attorney is an essential resource in ensuring veterans and service members are aware of how to access deserved assistance. At The Law Firm of Christopher W. Dumm, we take this responsibility seriously by providing a free Veterans Benefits Guide.
To learn more about our guide or to speak to an experienced attorney about your circumstances and needs, do not hesitate to reach out to our office. In addition to assistance with veterans’ benefits, we provide comprehensive services related to estate planning, elder law, estate administration, Medicaid planning, asset protection, tax planning, special needs planning, and more.
After all of the service our veterans have provided us, it is our honor to serve them in return.
