A FREE, Remote Learning Experience: Caring and Planning for the Elderly

This past year has taught us all the importance of learning to care for the elderly and the most vulnerable in our communities. After all, if it weren’t for the immense effort and sacrifice of so many during the Covid-19 pandemic, many of our most cherished neighbors may not still be with us. Recognizing this, now is the time to take the next step and extend your knowledge to include estate and long-term care planning. At the Law Firm of Christopher W. Dumm, we have two upcoming elder law bootcamps that will help you do just this. Each bootcamp is free (typically a $95 value), held remotely via Zoom, and provides the opportunity to earn 6 Continued Education Credits (CEUs). Descriptions are as follows.

1. Caring for the Elderly

Held on March 31, 2021, this three-part bootcamp covers strategies for protecting the wealth, health, and estate of your aging loved ones. Beginning with an estate planning overview, the program proceeds by detailing all steps of the estate planning process, including pre-planning, advance directives, and wills and trusts. Following this, a thorough discussion of elderly care and financing options is presented alongside insight on how to gain Veterans Benefits and Medicaid coverage. The final portion of the bootcamp covers all you need to know to successfully handle your loved one’s estate when they pass.

2. Planning for the Elderly

Held on April 22, 2021, this bootcamp is divided into three sessions entitled, “Protecting Their Wealth,” “Protecting Their Health,” and “Protecting Their Estate.” Like the program described above, topics covered include the ins and outs of estate planning alongside an in-depth discussion of needed documents and strategies, the nuances of caring for an aging loved one, and how to go about processing their estate in the event of their passing. Special attention is paid to the many stages of planning needed to ensure that both a loved one’s quality of life and assets are protected.

While both workshops are free and held virtually, reservations are nonetheless required as space is limited. To book your spot, visit our sign-up page.
