Baby Boomers – The Numbers are Booming!
I recently had the opportunity to be a guest on the KGCS TV program “Newsmakers” along with Kelly Hook, owner of ComForcare SWMO, and Shanna Johnson, Hospice Care Consultant from Hospice Compassus, about the influx of people in need of senior care services today.
The Baby Boomer generation (born between 1946-1964) makes up 23.7% of the US population, which is more than 75 million people. I heard just today that the Millennial generation (1982-2000) now claims 83.1 million members and are the only generation to surpass the boomers.
As the Baby Boomers are entering retirement age, the impact of this transition is being felt in many ways, including:
- The US is losing a large percentage of our work force, which slows economic growth, and
- Senior care providers are not ready for the exponential increase in those needing their services.
Take a minute to watch this video about how Senior Care service providers can work together to prepare for and respond to the boom!
